Introduction

Introduction STIHL GB, SKANSKA & Cskills Awards have joined forces to develop a new training programme and accompanying video to promote the safe use of petrol driven cut off saws in the construction industry.

 

 

Aims and objectives

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the correct level of knowledge to operate a petrol driven cut off saw safely.

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

 

Understand the importance of wearing PPE.

Understand the dangers that dust poses to their health.

Understand how noise affects hearing.

Understand the effects of vibration on the hand and arm.

Understand the danger of using a petrol driven cut off saw in poorly ventilated spaces.

Clearly understand the safety features of a petrol driven cut off saw.

Understand the importance of ensuring the fuel cap is correctly fitted.

Understand the causes of kick back.

Understand the importance of ensuring that the wheel is correct for the machine and application.

Understand the need for carrying out a site assessment.

Demonstrate the correct cold and hot start procedures for the petrol driven cut off saw.

Know the correct method for holding the petrol driven cut off saw.

Demonstrate the correct technique for cutting stone/ brick/concrete on the ground.

Demonstrate the correct technique for cutting metal on the ground.
